Basso profundo

Yesterday, in an effort to revive my long-unused phone message machine, I determined the microcassettes in the machine were not functional, and therefore decided to replace them with other microcassettes I had in storage.  Those didn't work either (I think the machine must be dead), but in the process I noticed they were not blank tapes.  I wondered what was on them.

I replaced the batteries in the microcassette player, turned on the tape, and there was Don's voice from 1999, about the time he finished working as an investigator, just before he started as an attorney.  I had not heard his voice since a recording played during the memorial service six years ago, but the voice was still so familiar, still surprisingly deep.  It is no wonder that every man envied his voice, and many thought he should be a singer - something he tried with less than positive results, primarily due to the weirdnesses of his voice instructor.

It's not easy going back in time, but still I know how much I have been blessed beyond what I deserve, and am so thankful to God, my family, and my friends, for being with and loving me all my life.

HI! I forgot you write here! I'm bookmarking this site, now. :) It must have been incredibly difficult hearing Don's voice for the first time in years. Had it been me, I think my face would have gone ghost white.

How are things in general with you? It looks like you've done a lot of traveling--good for you!! :) I'm still on OD, of course, and I still miss you. But, I've found you here, and I intend to start reading!

Happy New Year! :)
